Exploring Teide National Park

Located on the island of Tenerife in the Canary Islands, Teide National Park centers around Mount Teide (3,718 m) - Spain’s highest peak and one of the world’s most prominent volcanoes. Declared a national park in 1954 and a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2007, it covers more than 18,000 hectares of volcanic terrain.

The park’s landscape is dominated by vast lava fields, colorful rock formations, and crater rims formed by ancient eruptions. Despite its arid conditions, Teide hosts numerous endemic species, including the striking Teide violet, found only near the summit. The combination of geological wonder and ecological diversity makes it one of the most studied volcanic areas on Earth.

Visitors can access the park from any side of the island, with the Teide Cable Car offering transport near the summit. Popular viewpoints such as Roques de García reveal otherworldly panoramas that have inspired scientists and filmmakers alike. Teide stands as a symbol of the Canary Islands - a monumental meeting of fire, sky, and stone.
